In addition to nature and animals, several eco-friendly communities have been established in the vicinity of the school (some in the process of development) as well as nearby towns where the families of Casa Sulà can live and with whom we maintain constant interaction. La Ecovilla
La Ecovilla welcomes 43 families from 29 different countries. All of them made the decision to build their house on these old cattle lands, first transformed into an edible forest and, by 2012, organized with roads and general services. (…)

San Mateo
Only 2 km from Casa Sulà is the center of San Mateo, where the San Mateo Apóstol Parish, the Porfirio Álvarez González park, the photo spot in the northeast corner of the park, the municipality and several establishments such as banks, bakeries and restaurants. Very close to San Mateo is Orotina, a small city with more commercial activity, supermarkets, etc.

Maderal
Maderal is located in the highest part of San Mateo and is only 10 minutes by car from Casa Sulà. Located high on the mountain, Maderal has beautiful views of the valley that on clear days reach the beach and a cool climate most of the year. It is a quiet place where several families who attend Casa Sulà live.
Surroundings
Going a little further but still very close to Casa Sulà, there are various points of interest, which are attractive to the community as well as for weekend plans, visits during the week or even places to live.
Pacific beaches
Less than 30 km away is the extensive Pacific coast, full of inns and beautiful beaches where you can go to enjoy a day of sun, sand and ocean, both on weekdays and weekends without having a long travel time.
Some of the best-known nearby beaches are Playa Mantas, Herradura, Playa Hermosa and, of course, the well-known city of Jacó.
San José
Less than an hour’s drive is the city of San José, full of urban life, gastronomic and cultural proposals, shopping centers, nightlife and great commercial offers of all kinds. It is also where the Juan Santamaría International Airport is located, which is the main airport of Costa Rica (technically it is in the province of Alajuela but very close to downtown San José).
Atenas
Listed by many as the city with the best climate in the world, Atenas is only half an hour away from Casa Sulà. A small and quiet town located on the top of a mountain and with many attractions to offer, especially for its cool climate, which is why it is chosen by many foreigners as a place to live.
